Erik Bakken recently joined Core Mortgage Services as a Mortgage Advisor and is very excited to help clients achieve the dream of home ownership. Erik comes to Core after working in the Manufacturing Industry as a Mechanical Designer and Purchasing Agent for many years and intends to bring his creativity and dedication of service to the financial sector. Erik recognizes the loan process can be a stressful time for most people but also understands the importance of communication and guidance throughout the real estate transaction. With an efficient and streamlined procedure in place, Erik believes obtaining a loan can be a very satisfying experience. In fact, he was so impressed by his own experience (having done two mortgages and a refinance with the company), he eventually decided to change careers and join the great team at Core Mortgage Services.
About Erik
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Erik grew up in the Midwest, but has lived in State College for nearly twelve years. Erik received a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and an Associate Degree in Mechanical Design from MATC in Madison, Wisconsin. Outside of the office, Erik enjoys spending time with his two sons. His son Will attends Penn State University, and Charlie is in 8th grade. Erik devotes his free time watching his youngest son play baseball. In addition, Erik volunteers at Housing Transitions, a nonprofit organization that provides housing programs and supportive services to those in need throughout Centre County. “Aside from raising my boys, the volunteer work I do for Housing Transitions, helping the individuals and families that have fallen through the holes of our county’s safety net, is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.”
